Deeping Rangers U18s returned to action in the league as they hosted Ely City U18s.
After a win in their last fixture Deeping were hoping for back to back wins and they started the game well and on the 15 minute mark they were ahead. A great delivery into the box and a simple tap in at the far post. 7 minutes later they doubled the lead another good delivery and headed in at the far post. Deeping continued to threaten for most of the first half but couldn’t add to their goal tally.
Half time: Deeping 2-0 Ely
The 2nd half began, and Ely came out strong and on the 55th minute they got a goal back, a good ball through the defence and an unfortunate mix up in the defence allowed the Ely forward to score. Ely continued to threaten the Deeping goal and nearly scored again a good ball in came off the crossbar bounced on the goal line but was cleared by a Deeping defender. Ely pressed for the equaliser but Deeping managed to hold on for a good 3 points.
Deeping U18s are away at March town next week (Thursday 6th of February)
