Manager Brett Whaley was celebrating 800 matches in the managerial dug out last night when Sherwood Colliery came to town.
His spells at Yaxley, Spalding, Wisbech and Soham came ahead of his arrival at Rangers.
He met the brief last season of keeping his side up before a summer rebuild and reduction of average age ahead of this campaign.
An indicator of how far his side has come in that time came last night as the runaway league leaders arrived on a crisp, cold Lincolnshire night.
Before you could count to 800 to celebrate the manager's achievement, Deeping were ahead. Ryan Cook had already been through before being foiled, but minutes later, a ball across the box saw Lewis Arber arrive at the far post to finish and open the scoring.
Home fans' bums were barely back in their seats when Jonny Lockie collected the ball just inside the Sherwood half before setting off on a mazy run, beating retreating defenders before smashing home the second.
Deeping were in dreamland.
But this side isn't clear at the top of the table for nothing, and they squeezed the home side back down the pitch for most of the rest of the first half.
There was a penalty shout that was rejected. It would have been soft based on where I was sitting. But right on half-time, the referee did point to the spot when Aaron Butcher met a cross and was adjudged to have fouled a forward in doing so.
Sherwood dispatched the spot kick to Butcher's right, and we went in for half-time perfectly poised.
The second half was more of the same, and it was no surprise on the balance of play when, as the game entered the final quarter, Sherwood equalised through a smart shot from the edge of the area.
The two sides made substitutions and tactical tweaks, but Deeping still struggled to get up the pitch.
Bailey Baker had a snapshot from the edge of the area, and that looked being that.
But the 90th minute plus is known as Randall time in these parts, and when the main man picked up a loose ball in midfield, he rocketed down the left wing before cutting in and smashing home the winner like only he can.
In all honesty a draw was probably the right result, but Rangers wont complain having been on the end of a similarly timed goal over the weekend.
