When Lewis Arber rifled home a second for Deeping just after half time, not only did he add to Ryan Cooks first half strike, he took the visitors two goals clear in an away game.
Football pundits on TV always call 2-0 a dangerous lead and in the 11 months since we won away at Gresley Rovers we had managed to lose that very lead in matches more than once.
This season it was Newark & Sherwood who reduced that arrears late on to break our hearts. Before that it was Skegness in this very fixture last season.
So despite being into the second half and two goals to the good, it was no given that three points woul be heading south alongside Storm Amy.
As you can imagine, Skegness weren't about to give up and pushed on in search of getting back in the game.
So when Connor Marshall pulled a goal back with a neat finish in the final minute nerves were jangling, it wasn't just the cold from a stormy day alongside the North Sea.
But Deeping held on to record a big win in a derby and take three points home with them.
After a run of draws this was nice to back it up with three points moving us into the top 10 of the league table for the first time since the opening couple of rounds.
