Melton Town FC were formed in 1894 and were founder members of the Leicestershire & Northamptonshire League. They finished in 1896 and reformed in 1910 joining the Leicestershire Senior League for 2 seasons before rejoining in 1945 again finishing as a club in 1954. They reformed again in 1972 joining the Leics Senior League and going onto becoming champions in 76 and 84.
They were promoted to the Central Midlands League in 1986 and promoted to the Premier Div in 1988. They disbanded in 1992 when their floodlights at Egerton Park were refused planning permission and taken down. The present President Sam Ellis reformed the side in 2004 as Melton Mowbray FC joining the Leics & District League.
They were crowned champions of Div 2 in 2007 winning the County Cup in the process. They moved to the North Leics League in 2010 and were champions in their first season and were promoted back to The Leics Senior League after an 18 year absence. They finished second in 2014 & 15 but were refused promotion due to not meeting the ground grading. In 2016 they finished 3rd and moved to a new ground with a step 6 grading and so were subsequently promoted to The UCL and changed their name back to Melton Town.
This is currently their 5th season in the UCL. They finished 3rd in 2018-19 with 88 points losing the County Cup Final on penalties. Season 2019-20 & 20-21 combined put us top of the league by virtue of PPG and we were promoted by The FA. Our first season at Step 5 in the UCL Premier (North) saw us finish in a respectable 7th position.
During the season we replaced the grass pitch with a 3G pitch and we built our first ever clubhouse by the end of 2022. The last 2 seasons have seen us finish in 4th place.
We qualified for the play-offs in April losing 1-0 to Loughborough Students.
