A late Josh Moreman goal wasn't enough to secure Rangers point in a derby played out in front of close to 500 fans last night.
The visiting Manager, Michael Goode, had been keen to stress that despite the form book derby games are great at levelling the field and he was right in this instance.
Bourne started well but Rangers were playing their way into the game and gaining territory, especially down the right hand side through Ben Smith and Matt Sparrow.
However a slight lapse at the back was punished when Zak Munton cut in from the left wing before curling a great goal past Tyler Key in the home net.
The goal brought the atmosphere to life with the home fans trying to get behind their team and give them a lift.
After an end to end remainder to the first half whizzed by, history repeated itself in the second period.
Deeping with good possession and trying to push forward before they gave away a free kick on the edge of the penalty area. Zac Allen stepped up and thumped a second goal in off the underside of the bar before wheeling away to the jubilant away fans.
It was typical of how Rangers luck has been in recent weeks. The best performance in ages but punished with a sucker punch after their best period of the game.
But they kept going and after Spencer Tinklers bundled effort was ruled out for offside, Josh Moreman smashed a strike past Dan Swann but it was too late to complete a full comeback.
But what an effort by both sides and especially the belegaured Deeping team who despite being Managerless ran one of this seasons title favourites close.
Better days to come.
