Despite taking a strong looking side over to Loughborough to play Melton Town in their temporary home (and we wish them well in getting back to their own ground soon), Rangers ended up well beaten in this derby.
The "home" side scoring at fairly regular intervals during the game with Michael Duggan heroics for the visitors keeping them out at others.
Although a quick search of social media shows that it wasn't all one way traffic and that on another night Deeping could have scored plenty of goals themselves making a real match of it. In fact there were plenty of positive pieces written about Rangers build up play.
Johnny Alflatt will have been frustrated by the weather intervening at the weekend and will be left scratching his head on how to get his side back on track this weekend in another massive derby game, at home to Sleaford.
I titled this piece as a dent to the play off hopes, anything less than 3 points at the weekend and that dent will be terminal, I fear.
Half time Melton 1-0 Deeping
Full time Melton 4-0 Deeping
