4 goal Waumsley haul as Rangers run riot
Tom Waumsley bagged a hat-trick and a bit as Deeping got back to winning ways.
There were some nervous supporters in the 130odd making their way from the club house to the ground yesterday.
AFC Mansfield were getting better and Rangers had come off a tough loss at Belper the previous week.
Anxiety was eased in the opening quarter as Tom Waumsley scored twice and the home side were off on the front foot.
Those little doubts surfaced again as we approached half time as the visitors started to get more into the game, although their posssession didn't translate into many saves for home stopper Aaron Butcher.
Waumsley laid to rest any fears with two more strikes after the interval and before the hour.
This alllowed the management duo the chance to rest a few legs and introduce some more heavy hitters from the bench. Avelino Vieira, Matt Sparrow and Joe Cole all came on and all scored.
This was after a red card for the visitors for an incident off the ball that left David Buton-Jones needing treatment.
All in all a successful day at the office for Deeping and one that will set us up for some tough away days on the horizon.
