In reference to the ongoing cricket world cup, Liam Hooks strike for Deeping was described as taking a thick edge on its way over the visiting keeper and into the net.

it was just reward for a strong start by the home side, boosted by a 200+ gate and unseasonably warm weather.

But despite a number of chances at both ends, the match never really got going until a frantic last ten minutes with both sides thinking they could win it on the break.

By this time Newark were level, almost straight from the kick off of the second half when some pinball in the Deeping area was punished.

The equaliser certainly took the wind out of Deeping sails and the second half took time to settle down and have any sort of ebb and flow to it.

In the end I suspect the management of both teams will be unhappy with the point, but relieved to have got it. It was that sort of game where you wouldn't have been surprised had their been late drama.

Whilst this was a chance to make play off position ground for Deeping that was lost, it was a point against a side who certainly performed above their current league position.

Slowly but surely Luke and Scotts side are starting to carve another unbeaten run and keep their place in and around the chasing pack.
