Debutant Joao Varela had a tough evening pickup up a red card at the end of the match. He was among a number of home players to see yellow, and in his case, red.
The two sides were keen to renew a developing rivalry but the blustery conditions were a key contributor to the match ending in a stalemate.
Home goalkeeper Aaron Butcher (pictured) along with his visiting counterpart didn't have masses to do which would have pleased them with the ball potentially swirling around in the breeze.
Whilst Rangers will have wanted to keep their recent winning run going, this will still feel like a point gained against a strong squad on a rough evening of weather.
With a weekend off, the unbeaten run will need to be protected in the first teams next match. They travel to Loughborough Students on 30th September.
