Deeping were looking to put a couple of bad results behind them with this first midweek home league match of the season.
Rangers included a number of new signings (who debuted away at the weekend), but couldn't find a change of fortune in front of goal.
165 fans were in the ground and saw Melton take the lead early on after a long ball saw Tyreace Korben Palmer outpace the home defence and place his strike beyond Aaron Butcher in the home nets.
The home side almost found their way back in the game on ten minutes when Tom Waumsley went through on goal but his shot was saved by Rhys Ellis Brailsford.
Rangers would be made to pay soon after as a scramble in the home penalty area saw the ball ricochet off Butcher to Korbean Palmer who smashed home his second.
The remaining three quarters of the match were fairly even with a couple of chances apiece.
Avelino Vieria with the best for Deeping, his one on one opportunity finding Ellie Brailsford unbeatable in the visitors goal.
There were a couple of flashpoints late on in the game with one particularly vicious tackle in front of the Norman Fowler stand recieving a yellow card for the Melton player. Matt Sparrow, Liam Hook and Spencer Tinkler were all booked for Deeping
Rangers will be looking for a result and some goals to kick start 2023/2024 with Kimberly Miners Welfare visiting this weekend.
