Thanks to Jack for his preview.
The FA Cup preliminary rounds begin for the rangers as they host Wellingborough Town. The visitors find themselves in the Northern League Midlands Division (step 4) and are coming off the back of a solid league season in which they finished 8th, accumulating 58 points.
Wellingborough Town has welcomed a few notable players into the past with one of those being former Liverpool and England Full back Phil Neal. The Englishman started his career at the club before joining Northampton Town, the club where Bob Paisley signed him for £66,000! He went on to represent Liverpool 455 times scoring 41 goals! During his time at Liverpool Neal was called up to the national team and represented England 50 times. After his career finished he enjoyed managerial stints at Bolton, Coventry, Cardiff and Manchester City as a caretaker manager!
Recruitment this season has been successful for the Doughboys, retaining tricky winger Tom Laciofano and their captain Jack O’Connor. In addition to this, former Corby Town defender Calum Milne and Coventry Sphinx right winger Joe Pursey have joined the club.
It’s safe to say Brett Whaleys side have had a very promising start to the season, winning their first two games of the league!
Midfielder Byron Adiado will be hoping to build off of his cracking strike, a strike which gave the Rangers 3 points on the opening weekend against Ashby Ivanhoe
A confident rangers side will be looking to upset the visitors in a bid to extend our cup run! Come on Rangers!
