Rangers entertained the Division’s basement boys looking to get some momentum into their league campaign ...

and went on the offensive from the first whistle.

An early chance saw Dan Jarvis free Jordan Macleod, he thrust into the box, a cut inside to blast at goal where Greens custodian Regan Start saved with his legs, from the corner Start needed to tip over Luke Hunnings header. Hunnings then had a header cleared from the post from Dan Banister’s corner, the ball fell for Sam Murphy whose effort was cleared off the other post.

Town had a couple of good opportunities, a long ball from defence was chased by Ted Gibbons, his attempt to gain control was thwarted by the quick action of Ranger keeper Lewis Elsom who nipped the ball away.

A throw from Harry Wright allowed Harry Ginniff space in the home box, he
turned and shot but only found the side net.

The Clarets made the breakthrough on 11 mins, Jarvis won on half way, his pass freed Macleod to run at the visitors back line, into the box, he dribbled his way past several players, rounded Start to slot home past the covering defenders on the line. (1-0)

Another near thing came as Jarvis intercepted a pass, he supplied Scott Mooney who curled his effort just high of the top corner, Mooney was on target on 23 mins to double Rangers advantage – good football from Tom Garrick and Jarvis supplied Macleod, his low cross into the goal area was touched home by Mooney ahead of the defender. (2-0)

Deeping were close again, Macleod collected a ball over the Greens defence, beating Start to the ball, he turned to hit at goal where a great block on the line by Niall Parsons denied him.

Rangers were dominant now, Aaron Davies met Banister’s corner to rattle the bar with his header, the Mooney follow up was pushed away by Start, Macleod had another good run thwarted by the upright.

Sleaford’s Sam Waywell chased a long ball to get in a shot that Hunnings blocked away well.

The inevitable third Rangers goal came on 41 mins, Jack Marsden delivered a ball to the near post and the alert Mooney nipped in to steer the ball inside the post (3-0)

Half Time – Deeping Rangers 3 Sleaford Town 0

The second half was less than a minute hold before the Clarets increased their lead, Jarvis drilled a shot from the corner of the box into the far corner of the net (4-0 – 46 mins)

Rangers management took the opportunity to rest Jarvis and Macleod ahead of Saturday's cup clash and Ryan Olbromski came on for his senior Clarets debut.

A misunderstanding between Elsom and Hunnings saw Ted Gibbons intercept, a touch and shot saw the ball fly over as a rare chance for the Greens was not taken.

The Clarets saw chances for Garrick and Banister go marginally wide of the upright before they added a fifth on 85 mins, Olbromski’s ball into the box found Garrick to steer his header at the target reaching the net despite the effort of Start to keep it out. (5-0).

Deeping had further chances as Garrick forced Start to save with his legs and Mooney’s touch on the stretch slid wide.

Three points for Rangers and some goals – there could have been double – as they now prepare for the task of Hendon in the FA Cup on Saturday.
