Deeping saw Tyler Walker pick out Dan Flack whose lobbed effort from the edge of the box was too high, Charlie Coulson’s long ball into Scott Mooney, his good touch created space for a 25 yard drive that Star custodian Dan Smith saved well to push away.
Star full back Jack Bloodworth let fly from 40 odd yards but failed to trouble home keeper Lewis Elsom.
The visitors took the lead on 32 mins, a ball over the top just beat Rangers’ youngster Cameron Baldock-Smith, Jake Sansby collected to shoot past the advancing Elsom into the corner.
Rangers saw Mooney feed Walker wide, he delivered a good cross for Dan Jarvis to meet but the header glanced wide, Walker fed Flack to send a good ball into the goal area where good defending from Matt Cox nicked the ball away as Mooney was about to pounce.

With the wind at their backs the home side applied early pressure, Cox’s back header allowed Jarvis to the visitors box, good play drew Smith from his goal but the cross just eluded the arriving Mooney, Jarvis collected a loose ball to drive at goal, the ball crashing the post and rebounding onto Smith’s back to be cleared by Bloodworth.
The Clarets were having the better of things, Coulson’s defence splitting pass picked out Flack, he delivered for Walker to shoot, the shot being blocked out to Jack Marsden whose effort cleared the goal, Walker arrowed a ball to the far corner of the box, Michael Simpson sent his header across the face of goal missing at the far post.
A series of Coulson corners saw David Burton-Jones bring a save from Smith with his legs and one cleared off the line by Cox.
Another Coulson corner was met by Luke Hunnings, his header fell for Jarvis to slam home for the equaliser on 68 mins.
Star were close to reclaiming the lead, Bloodworth’s corner was met by Cox with his header being just over, Robbie Ellis supplied Sansby whose effort from the edge of the box failed to test Elsom, the keeper made a good save from Harry Brookes who had been played in by Sansby.
With the result from Daventry confirming that Rangers had secured second place in the final table the squad was presented with their Runners-Up Mementoes by UCL League Directors Ian Hughes and Trevor Mitchell – WELL DONE Mike and your team on another good season!!
