Rangers claimed a vital win in their pursuit of a second place League finish thanks to a late goal achieved by the two custodians with home keeper Lewis Elsom’s deep indirect free kick bouncing over opposite number ...

Tom Cocking who trying to touch away from his goal only helped the ball into the net in the 90th minute.

The Clarets took the lead on 2 mins, Charlie Coulson’s corner being powered home by skipper David Burton-Jones' header to keep his scoring streak going.

Harborough levelled on 9 mins, a long ball from defence looked to have been cleared by Rangers, Harry May collected 45 yards out and delivered a splendid lob over Elsom, who was around the penalty spot, into the net.

Play was evenly contested although Deeping lacked the normal rhythm and were caught again on 28 mins as the Bees took the lead – a ball deep into the Rangers defence saw Aaron Preston just edge the ball from Luke Hunnings, his shot was well saved by the legs of Elsom, the ball fell for Preston who made no mistake with his second attempt from the edge of the box.

Rangers were close, Cameron Baldock-Smith’s good ball picked out Henry Dunn, his pull back took a touch of a defender to fin Dan Jarvis, his controlled shot brought a good save from Cocking, the ball looping up to fall into the hands of the young keeper.

The Bees Preston threaded a fine ball into the home box where Callum Milne’s progress was thwarted by a good tackle save from Elsom.

With the wind at their backs the home side improved in the second half and went on to dominate the visitors.

Tyler Walker laid the ball for Baldock-Smith to deliver, Hunnings rose but the header was high, Walker nicked the ball from Finlay Gray, his good low cross from the goal line was cleared by Ben Williams as Dan Flack looked to apply a finish from close range.

The equaliser came om 54 mins, Coulson’s pass picked out Josh Moreman, he wriggled into space before sliding past Cocking into the corner of the goal.

Harborough’s Gray sent in a deep free kick, the clearance was retrieved by Milne to send in a dangerous low cross where Baldock-Smith cleared to send Rangers on a swift attack – Dunn exchanged passes with Jarvis to get into the box, he dribbled into space to drive at goal with the ball rebounding from the upright across the face of the goal and cleared.

Luke Andersen’s clearance was laid off by Moreman, Dunn sent a good header over the Town back line where Walker a just short of getting to the ball before Cocking, Moreman laid into the path of Jarvis, his blast from the edge of the box saw Cocking make a fine save, the ball eventually falling for Dunn who blazed high over the target.

With the time almost up the winner came, a bizzare goal that the young keeper will learn from – his instinctive reaction to protect his goal taking over from the rationale to not touch the ball.

Rangers maintain the four point gap over third placed Rugby with 3 games each to play.
