Rangers first visit to Hamilton Park saw them record another good away victory, to close the gap to leaders Daventry Town to 6 points, against a good young Nirvana side ...

who made them work all the way for the points.

The visitors went on the offensive from the onset.

Charlie Coulson’s corner saw Luke Hunnings steer his header towards the corner of the goal where home defender Deen Master made a good goal line clearance, the ball being retrieved by Dan Jarvis to drive low across goal for Master’s to clear again.

Deeping took the lead on 5 mins, Coulson’s corner was met by skipper David Burton-Jones who glanced his header inside the back post.

It was a good spell for the Clarets, Luke Andersen played a good ball down the line, Jarvis beat Kareem Abouraia, his cross picked out the free Cameron Johnson, the shot being just the wrong side of the post.

Nirvana started to get their attacking play going, Tariq Wilson pressed the Deeping defence, the ball broke for him with his shot sliding past the closing down Lewis Elsom and the far post, the lively Suleiman Nassor did well to get around Andersen, his low cross was met by Shaquille Master whose shot was mishit and taken by Elsom.

Deen Master delivered a good cross, Nassor saw his header wide under pressure from Hunnings, Nassor received from Abouraia, his effort being well blocked by the combination of Hunnings and Burton-Jones.

Good play from Jarvis saw him supply Henry Dunn in the box, only a good challenge from Ryan Calver halted his progress, Jarvis supplied a ball into the box towards Johnson, he nicked it away from Jhaden Harper, his shot being well saved by home keeper Michael Antkowiak, Jarvis collected the rebound to drive low, Antkowiak parried the shot but reclaimed as Scott Mooney looked to finish.

Nirvana’s Wilson fed Jordan Nelson, his shot brought a fine block from Burton-Jones, at the other end Dunn pounced on a loose ball, he thrust forward before driving across goal forcing Antkowiak down smartly to take from the arriving Johnson.

The home side started the second period strongly, Harper sent a deep ball into the visitors box, the clearance saw Nelson blast goal wards with Andersen making a good block, the rebound seeing Nelson’s shot well saved by Elsom.

Nirvana raided again that saw a scramble in the Clarets defence with several good blocks thwarting the home side with Nassor’s shot being superbly blocked by the visiting skipper.

Having weathered the pressure, Rangers started to create for themselves, Michael Simpson won well, his ball over the home back line found Mooney, his clever chip being just wide of the goal.

Leicester saw Nelson’s near post header into the side netting, Clarets Jarvis won from Adam Swain, he picked out Mooney whose slide shot for goal being wide, Johnson won the ball from Harper, he supplied into the path of Jarvis who slid his shot wide.

The visitors were having a good spell, Dunn’s good ball allowed Johnson to attack, his fine pass supplied Mooney only to see Calver nick away as the shot looked to be on, Jarvis did well down the right, he fed Johnson, good control allowed a shot that brought a good save from the home keeper, Antkowiak made another good save being alert to Coulson’s quick free kick giving Jarvis sight of goal.

Rangers doubled their lead on 83 mins, Coulson’s corner met by Burton-Jones at the far post to power his header back into the far corner.

Another tough test for the visitors that was good preparation for their Lincolnshire FA Senior Trophy Final on Wednesday evening.
