(in the LKO Cup) earlier in the season.
Played on a sticky pitch, both sides struggled to get fluidity to their play and the fayre offered, particularly in the first half, was scrappy with little real goal threat.
The Clarets Scott Coupland found Scott Mooney in the visitor's box, his resulting shot only found the side netting, at the other end Ryan Ansell’s free kick was partially cleared by the home defence where Josh Melling’s snap shot hit the massed defence and out for a corner.
A quick Deeping free kick from Jason Kilbride allowed Dan Flack to send in a cross where Luke Hunnings laid into the path of Mooney but Cooks keeper Stuart Lutter pounced to quell the threat, Hunnings partly connected to Jonny Clay’s ball into the box, the ball falling for a second attempt that Hunnings could only steer at Lutter.
Hunnings turned provider, his pass finding Henry Dunn in the box but the glancing header was wide of the target.
The visitors were giving threats of their own, Montel Dore got to the goal line, his pull back picked out Ansell to see his shot blocked by Hunnings, the ball falling for Gartland who skewed the shot wide of the target, Ansell’s corner saw Ryan Dove collect and shoot on the turn for Clay to block well.
Ansell’s curling free kick was very close to finding the arriving Dove but no touch was made, Dove then won on half way and progressed towards the home box where a very good tackle from Hunnings halted the threat.
The Clarets finished the half with a couple of half chances, Sam Hollis beat Melling to get to the goall line, his pull back being taken by Lutter as Mooney looked to pounce, another Hollis low cross into the Cooks box saw Dan Stevenson’s attempted clearance slice into the hands of Lutter

Deeping started the second period as they had finished the first attacking the visitors goal and made the breakthrough on 48 mins, Kilbride’s corner went through the goal area to find Coupland at the far stick, his header back towards goal was fumbled by Lutter and as the ball dropped Mooney was on hand to prod the ball home from less than a foot.
Rangers were having the better of things, Coupland picked up a loose ball just out of the box and progressed where the recovering George Barnell’s timley challenge cleared the ball.
Cogenhoe levelled on 65 mins, Ansell’s free kick was cleared out by the home defence where Sean McBride returned it to find Dove, his shot bringing a fine save from Danny Bircham who could do nothing as Matt Long pounced to blast past Bircham’s second attempt to thwart the visitors.
Rangers were close to regaining the lead, Mooney and Coupland closed down the Cooks defence, Coupland supplied Hollis who saw his shot parried by Lutter with Barnell on hand to complete the clearance biut it was the visitors who took the lead on 72 mins, Dove fed Long wide right, he sent in a low cross that Dore met in the goal area to apply the finishing touch.
Deeping did what they had to do and put pressure on their visitors, David Burton-Jones rose amongst the pack but his header, from Kilbride’s corner, didn’t trouble Lutter, Coupland’s threaded pass allowed Hollis a shot on target where Lutter saved with his leg.
The home levelled on 88 mins, Hollis supplied Coupland in the box, a touch allowed sight of the far corner and that’s where the ball was sent through the dive of Lutter.
Rangers were now searching for the winner, Bircham’s long kick was flicked on by Mooney, the ball eventually fell for sub Rob Conyard to get his shot in but only to hit a defender, a Hollis corner saw a scramble in the Cooks box where McBride stayed cool to clear.
A long ball from Clay into the heart of the Cogenhoe back line saw the ball for Coupland, he advanced, his stumble saw the touch take the ball away from him and the final action saw Flack exchange passes with Charlie Coulson to drive low to the goal area where the Cooks defenders managed to scramble the ball away.
Relief at the final whistle for the visitors who are now unbeaten in 9 games – for the Clarets another two points dropped at a vital stage of the season but it is never easy against the Cooks as was proven again today.
