Ranger overcame resolute opposition to record another victory at the Dog and Duck, aided by a dismissal that led the Doughboys finishing the last ..

The home side started the stronger, Albert Akinremi twisted his way into the Deeping box, his cross was met by Mark Pryor who skewed his backwards for the Clarets to clear, Dante Memoli seized a loose ball to curl a shot that landed on the roof of the net.

Deeping’s Scott Mooney sent Jason Kilbride towards the home box, his touch allowed a shot that narrowly missed at the far post.

It was the home side who found the net first on 17 mins, Pryor’s inswinging corner to the near post saw a bit of a scramble with Deven Ellwood being credited with the touch to take the ball over the line.

The Clarets started to raise their efforts, Kilbride progressed into the box, his pull back found Louis Hamilton whose touch hit a defender and deflected wide.

Rangers levelled on 31 mins, Kilbride curled in a free kick for skipper David Burton-Jones to rise in the goal area to power his header past Jack Riley.

Before the Doughboys could regroup they found themselves behind on 33 mins, a flowing Rangers move saw Scott Coupland release Dan Flack to the goal line, his pull into the six yard box had Kilbride beating the defender to the ball to touch the ball over the line.

Town levelled on 48 mins, Ellwood collected mid half, a touch gave space for a snapshot from 25 yards that Clarets keeper Richard Stainsby could only parry on it’s way into the net.

The home side had a good chance as Ellwood fed Akinremi in the box but a complete miskick wasted the opportunity, Michael Cirelli got to the goal line, his pull back saw Ellwood glancing his header wide of the far post.

Deeping’s Kilbride was fed by Henry Dunn into the box, his cross was cleared out for Tom Smith to arrive and drive from the edge of the box, but too high.

Akinremi twisted his way along the goal line to cross for Pryor’s header to bring a fine save from Stainsby.

The turning point of the game came on 71 mins, Justin Dowling’s lunge on Coupland resulted in a straight red leaving the Doughboys one man down.

Rangers sub Charlie Coulson pounced on a loose ball to blast goalwards for Riley to parry away, Coulson’s attempted lob saw Riley get a touch, the ball falling for Joe Rich to clear off of the line.

Deeping made the breakthrough on 83 mins, Burton-Jones picked out Coupland on the edge of the box, a smart turn allowed him to slide the ball past the advancing Riley.

The spirit of Town saw Adam Speight find Lloyd Buckby, his shot straight at Stainsby.

Coulson wriggled his way along the goal line to feed Kilbride to bring a save from Riley, Dunn won a challenge, the ball fell for Burton-Jones to send Coupland wide, he found the arriving Kilbride whose shot was cleared off the line.

The Doughboys had a glorious chance to level, Akinremi and Dane Wood pressured the visitors defence, the ball fell for Wood, his attempt only finding Stainsby.

With Additional time being played Rangers wrapped up the game with a 4th goal on 90+4 mins, Kilbride’s strength won the challenge in the corner, he crossed into the goal area where home defender Carlos Lewis could only tee up for Coupland to smash home.

A much needed win for the Clarets to keep them in the mix as the New Year progresses.
