Deeping started brightly, Scott Mooney evaded a couple of Muxloe challenges to find Scott Coupland, quick feet saw him round keeper James Flinders to cross/shoot for the far post where the arriving Jason Kilbride was whiskers away from touching the ball home.
After a period of home dominance Muxloe had a rare spell in the home half where Jordon Lever controlled and shot straight at Richard Stainsby.
The home side’s Dan Schiavi played a1-2 with Charlie Coulson to drive from the edge of the box only to hit Kirby defender Sean Doy and out for a comer
Lever collected a long clearance, he progressed into the home box to shoot that had Stainsby making a good save, the following play saw Tyler Love stretch to volley over the bar.
Rangers Kilbride got around Kane Brown to deliver a deep cross where Tom Smith’s return clipped the bar and out.
A powerful run from David Burton-Jones saw a return pass from Mooney but Burton-Jones’ touch ran through to keeper Flinders, Flinders was in action again as Mooney collected a through ball to see his attempt hit Flinders on the chest as he approached.
The breakthrough for the home side came in additional time, Mooney controlled in the visitors box where Brown’s challenge was deemed illegal – Coupland struck home the penalty past the save attempt from Flinders (45+2 mins)
Half Time – Deeping Rangers 1 Kirby Muxloe 0
An injury to Assistant Mansfield saw a slight delay to the start of the second half (thankfully Ray Smith was able to ‘volunteer’ to replace Mansfield so the game could continue (thanks Ray))
Both defences kept the opposition at bay with goal threats very rare.
Muxloe’s Love chased a long ball to get into the home box but his touch saw the ball through to the keeper.
It was Rangers who scored again on 63 mins, Schiavi’s free kick blast curled into the net despite the effort of Flinders to push it away.
Kirby’s Lever dribbled his way from his own half into the home box but shot off target
A good Deeping move saw Coulson find Mooney out left, his cross field pass picked out Coupland to lay into the path of Coulson whose run was ended by a foul challenge and Rangers were awarded another penalty – Coupland stepped up to beat Flinders again on 69 mins for 3-0 to the home side.
This disheartened the visitors, and Rangers were having the better of things, Will Bird intercepted an intended back pass his pass almost reached Burton-Jones but Kirby’s Wade Ball nicked it away.
Rangers debutant Norbert Zalejski saw his first touch get him into the visitors box to bring a good save from Flinders.
With time almost up Bird closed down Flinders, winning the ball and advancing goalwards where Muxloe’s Ball pulled him back – Coupland completed his hat trick of penalties on 89 mins.
The Clarets had one last opportunity when Mooney pounced on a loose ball in the box to smash the ball over the bar.
A game where Rangers were not at their normal level but the result kept the team on pursuit of 2nd place in the table,
