Deeping took the lead on 8 mins, Charlie Coulson broke down the right, his pass found Dan Schiavi left side who shot from the corner of the box for Holbeach keeper Ricky Drury to parry the ball into the goal area where Scott Mooney was on hand to stab the ball into the net.
Tigers new boy Zak Munton tried an audacious lob over Deeping custodian Richard Stainsby to see the ball wide of the far post.
Rangers lost Coulson injured on 21 mins, to be replaced by Henry Dunn, and it was Dunn who supplied the pass to set up Scott Coupland for the second goal on 38 mins – Dunn won well and passed infield, a good dummy from Mooney gave Coupland a free run to the edge of the box where he drilled the ball past the dive of Drury into the corner of the goal.
Half Time – Deeping Rangers 2 Holbeach United 0
If the first half offered few chances the second was even more frugal leaving the crowd with little to chear about.
Rangers skipper David Burton-Jones played Schiavi in to shoot high from the edge of the box, Burton-Jones and Schiavi combined to set up Jason Kilbride but the shot was easy for Drury to save.
A rare Tigers effort on the Rangers goal saw Josh Ford chip towards the far post where Dan Dougill headed back into the middle for Munton to head tamely at Stainsby
With the game well into additional time Holbeach got a consolation, Rangers’ Luke Hunnings was harshly deemed to have handled (ball to hand!!!), Ford drove the free kick goal wards where Stainsby parried out and Dougill applied the finishing touch
Rangers go into Christmas with an unbeaten run of 18 matches behind them and looking to not have the same run post New Year as they did last year – the merited 3 points lifted them to second place in the table.
