Tunch calls time on Manager's job

Tunch calls time on Manager's job

Match Scribe25 Apr 2015 - 12:14

1st team Manager Tuncay Korkmaz has decided that, through work commitments, he cannot continue in the role next season bringing to an end his ....

second stint as Rangers Manager – assistant Mark Ward has also indicated that he will not be continuing through personal reasons.

Tunch has been involved in football since his early teen years and started in his native Turkey, as a professional junior at Fenerbache, and since coming to the UK has played for, and managed, several local non leagues clubs.

He was brought to Rangers by the management team of Chris Becket and Dave Simpson and when the club were looking for a temporary manager to see the 2005/2006 season out, following the resignation of Vince Adams, he stepped forward and was then appointed Manager, assisted by Dave Simpson, for the 2006/7 season which saw a unbeaten run of 29 League games culminate with the UCL Premier Division Championship.

After another 2 seasons in control Tunch took over the reins of former club Stamford AFC but was soon back in the Rangers fold again taking over the Rangers reins following Pat Rayment’s departure towards the end of 2010/2011 and has been in charge since.

Tunch has indicated that he would like to remain with the Club in some capacity – maybe he could paint the home dressing room walls where the paint has blistered following some of his half and full time time talks.

DRFC thanks both Tunch and Mark for their effort and commitment over the past seasons.

The Club will consider the Manager’s position at the scheduled Committee meeting on Monday (27th April) evening.
