When the DRFC Website spoke to Charles Walker about the team, he reflective on their season but also on the opportunities the sport could bring.
We were keen to avoid phrases like "new lease of life" and "prolonging your career" but there is a really strong feeling about the game and how it can keep that connection with football going later in your sporting life.
"It might seem like as a Baller you've have reached the end of the road" Charles tells us "But walking football truly rekindles the the spirit of the game in its purest form and is incredibly socially rewarding."
The team enjoyed a mid table finish last season with derby matches against the likes of Yaxley and Stamford coupled with Norwich City on the final weekend.
It was hard for Charles to pick out one player of the season but when asked he said goalkeeper Gary Smith was his stand out.
Well done Gary and to Charles and all of his players for their efforts this season.
There are plans to grow both the player pool and number of teams playing at Deeping Rangers so please keep your eyes on the website for more details.
