Sam's setting the example for others to follow

Sam's setting the example for others to follow

Match Scribe13 Jan 2022 - 06:00

Deeping Rangers Head of Football, Martin Bond, is delighted to announce that the new

robust ‘player pathway' foundations put in place at the club this season have already begun to 'bear fruit’.

Last season's U16 player, Sam Fielding made his First Team debut in November in the UCL Premier Division North at the age of 17 after producing some good performances in the other 3 Senior sides at the club this season: those being the talented U18 midweek squad, the new Development Squad (playing on Saturdays in the Peterborough League) and the Reserves who are strongly pushing for promotion to the Peterborough Premier League for next season.

Sam has been at DRFC since attending its annual Soccer School at the age of 5.

Like many other young players at the club, Sam began to thrive and develop through the excellent, qualified coaching and facilities that DRFC has to offer for all the age groups.

Sam initially played mini-soccer then went onto the junior sides prior to going onto play in the youth sides.

He watched many First Team games as a youngster which helped cement his ambition to one day become a senior footballer representing DRFC First Team.

I’m sure he realises, and understands, it will take even more hard work, commitment and continued improvement to become a regular starter in the First Team.

However, Sam’s journey goes to prove that DRFC can develop within and that hopefully he is the first of many existing young aspiring DRFC footballers already at the club that believe they can go on to wear the ‘Claret & Blue’ at Senior First Team level.
