After speaking with our manager, Brett Whaley, he has made the tough decision to step aside from his role as 1st Team Manager due to increasing work commitments. Anyone who knows Brett will understand how much thought has gone into this decision, & he has not taken it lightly.
On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to personally thank him for everything he has given us. His commitment, passion & hard work have been there for all to see, & he has always put the club first. He has been a fantastic ambassador, and we are incredibly grateful.
While we are naturally disappointed to be losing him as manager, we completely understand that family and work commitments must come first. Football is important, but life outside the game will always take priority.
I am grateful that Brett has agreed to remain in charge of the team while we search for the right person to take over. That speaks volumes about his character & commitment to both the players & the club. His support during this transition will be invaluable.
Finding the right successor will not be easy, and it will not be rushed. We want to appoint someone who shares the values, ambition and togetherness that have become such an important part of this club. Further details on the recruitment process will be released shortly.
Brett leaves this role with the respect, gratitude & friendship of everyone at DRFC. While his time may be coming to an end, he will always remain part of our club. The door will always be open, & we look forward to welcoming him and his family back to the club in the future.
Finally, I would like to thank our supporters for their continued backing. Your support means everything to everyone involved. So let's get behind Brett, his staff and the players, and make sure we give him the send-off he deserves in his final few games in charge.
