What a night for our U18s last night who played Wisbech St Mary’s in terrible weather conditions.
Whilst the weather was terrible the result was much better. With Rangers running out 5-4 winners with goals from Kent (2), Woodhouse, Cole & Burrows. Here is Roberts report from the game...
On a very wet and chilly Thursday night Deeping Rangers U18s hosted Wisbech St Mary U18s looking to continue their winning home run.
6 minutes in and Deeping took the lead with a good strike from just outside of the box into the top corner.
On the 24th minute a brilliant 25 yard shot from Wisbech flew into the goal to level the game. Just before half time Deeping retook the lead with a great run into the box and with the keeper committed the ball was squared and to then rolled into the empty net.
HT: Deeping 2-1 Wisbech St Mary
The 2nd half started well with Deeping adding a 3rd with a good finish just inside the box.
Wisbech pulled a goal back with a great free kick floated into the box and headed in at the far post. 4 minutes later they were level with a great driving run into the box a good shot with the ball sneaking into the near post. 70 minutes in Deeping then took the lead again a ball driven in from just outside the box, 10 minutes later they got a 5th and final goal a great shot looping over the keeper and in. On the 90th minute Wisbech scored a 4th to make the last couple of minutes a bit uncomfortable after a shot was spilt by the keeper and crept over the line.
Full time Deeping 5-4 Wisbech St Mary
A very wet evening so credit to both teams who kept going.
Deeping host Godmanchester Rovers U18s on the 13th of December.
