Robert Yates reports for us

On a chilly windy Thursday evening Deeping Rangers U18s welcomed Soham Rangers U18s to the Haydon Whitham Stadium with the hope of getting back to winning ways in the league having suffered there first league defeat away to St Neots last time.

Soham frustrated Deeping for a lot of the first half with great defending and players behind the ball along with some good goalkeeping. They kept them out until the 42nd minute when a mistake in their defence allowed Deeping to race through and score. No more than a minute later Deeping doubled there lead when Soham failed to clear there lines again a great shot which the keeper got a glove to but wasn't enough to keep it out.

Half time Deeping 2-0 Soham

The 2nd half started much like the first with Deeping controlling possession and looking for a way through.

They found that in the 50th minute with a great driving run and expertly finished. Deeping continued to drive forward searching for more and on the 65th minute they got their 4th, with a great cross into the box a lovely touch and finished off into the bottom left hand corner. Soham did find a consolation goal late on when a Deeping handled the ball in the box. A penalty was awarded and was taken well by the Soham player.

Full time Deeping 4-1 Soham

A good performance from Deeping who climb to the top of the table with games in hand over 2nd place St Neots. Deepings next game is a trip Cambridge City on Monday before they play Wisbech St Mary on the 7th of December.
