We are back at home this weekend as Newark & Sherwood visit Deeping for this UCL Premier North match.

Our regular match previewers Arun and Jack run the rule over the opposition.

Newark and Sherwood United are a Nottinghamshire based club and were founded in 1901. They play their games at Station Road in Collingham.

Looking at their previous season, finishing 8th, this season has been quite underwhelming for Newark and Sherwood.They sit 15th on 10 points, however they are undefeated in their last 6 games drawing 3 and winning 3. This includes being over Loughborough Students.

Meanwhile for the Rangers, this will be our first home game in 3 weeks after away days to Barton, Huntingdon and Sleaford. A win on Saturday would see Rangers push into the 5th place playoff spot whereas for Newark and Sherwood would see them move up 2 places into 13 (or 12th provided the win by 9 goals).

Silverware has come recently for the Nottinghamshire based club winning the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup and 5 years previous to that the Nottinghamshire Senior League (the only league still in existence that has been won).

Interestingly after beating us and Maltby in the preliminaries, Newark’s biggest win came in the first qualifying round FA Cup tie against AFC Rushen and Diamonds leading 3-0 at half time and 5-0 at full time. They would eventually lose out however in the 2nd qualifying round to Mickleover in a 4-1 away defeat.
