Jason's header sets Rangers on way to victory
Rangers eventually ran out winners in a tight competitive game as they edged a resilient Muxloe team who can ...
feel slightly aggrieved that the result did not truly reflect the difference between the two teams.
Unusually the Clarets endured a first half where their opponents had the better of things and did not cause Kirby keeper Scott Handley to make a save.
Kirby’s Aaron Love was fed wide by Josh Burniston, his pull back saw Aaron Black’s low drive bring Deeping keeper Richard Stainsby into action with a full stretch tip away.
Rangers stand in full back Jason Kilbride thrust forward to reach the goalline, his pull back picked out Henry Dunn whose touch on the run from 6 yards was over the bar.
The visitors Jordon Lever intercepted a loose pass, he cut inside to drive low bringing another good save from Stainsby.
Deeping were looking for a penalty as Dunn’s through ball allowed Louis Hamilton to get goalside of Prince Nyarko with the defender looking to have pushed over Hamilton in his attempt to get a tackle in – referee Bell was unconvinced.
Stainsby produced another good save from Aiden Black’s low drive as it appeared to be heading inside the far post, Lever’s corner was met Burniston who glanced his header wide of the target.
Muxloe were dealing with the home sides offensive efforts and skipper Leon Fray was just edging his contest with Rangers Scott Mooney as the home side struggled to threaten the visitors goal – the Clarets had a good chance on the stroke of half time as Kilbride’s curling free kick saw David Burton-Jones head into the goal area where the arriving Luke Hunnings narrowly missed applying the finish.
Half Time – Deeping Rangers 0 Kirby Muxloe 0
The home side started the second period with intent, Charlie Coulson fed Dunn into the box, his shot saw Handley gather at the second attempt, Dunn’s pass split through the Kirby defence to find Scott Coupland, his pull back had Fray just nicking the ball away as Mooney was about to pounce.
Muxloe’s Mark Tinsley's touch allowed Lever space for a blast that was marginally over junction of bar and post.
The breakthrough came on 58 mins, Tom Smith was out wide, he curled in a deep cross where Kilbride arrived just inside the corner of the box to send his header looping over Handley into the far side of the net.
Kirby responded, Aiden Black wriggled his way into the box, his cross/shot was cleared out to be retrieved and returned into the box where Aaron Black's shot was well blocked out by Chris Hollist with the ball looping over the bar.
Deeping extended their lead on 68 mins, Kilbride struck a 35 yard free kick at the target where Handley fumbled his save, the ball falling for Coupland to slide the ball home.
Another goal was close when Stainsby long clearance saw Dunn beat the offside but his lobbed effort on the run was high, a good Rangers move down the right saw Kilbride pick out Dunn on the edge of the box who skewed the attempt over the bar.
Dunn was not to be thwarted though and he completed the scoring on 86 mins, the ball from Hollist looked to be sailing into touch but Dunn’s acrobatics controlled it, he cut inside to let fly from 30 yards that Handley could only watch go into the top corner – a real belter of a goal!
A much different second half from the home side with the three point, and other results, taking them into 3rd place in the table.
