Clarets Hit 5 past Feeder Soccer

Team Sheet: Nat Manders Jones, Callum Cawthorn, Ewan McCracken, Isaac Flemming, Sam Bell, Dan Malcolmson, James Russell, George Cushen, Owen Jacobs. Subs: Matt Holland and Joe Goldsmith.

Result: Deeping Claret 5 – 1 Feeder Soccer

The Clarets marked their first home fixture with a one minute applause in memory of Zack King who played for Deeping Rangers U10 Clarets. In an act of remembrance Feeder Soccer’s Captain, Garikai Tanyanyiwa, placed a bouquet of flowers on the centre spot just before the applause began.

At the end of the applause Claret’s Captain, James Russell received the flowers shook Garikai’s hand, the flowers were placed between the dug outs of the two teams, then the game began.

Feeder started what was the Clarets first home game of the season. The Clarets pressured the ball almost immediately from the whistle forcing Feeder Soccer back deep into their own half. The Clarets stating their intention to claim the three points available.
Feeder cleared their lines nut their attack broke down and the Clarets retained possession trying to exploit any gaps within the Feeder line up.

The deadlock was broken 8 minutes into the game when the Clarets broke down a Feeder attack and countered with George Cushen rifling a shot towards goal, the Feeder Goalkeeper spilled the ball for Owen Jacobs to slot the ball into the net, getting his second of the season. Clarets 1-0 up.

The game continued with some excellent displays of football from the Clarets, with the Feeder Goal keeper was keeping busy as the Clarets peppered the Feeder goal.

The Clarets conceded a free kick on 19 mins, the ball heading goal bound, only for Nat who until this point didn’t have too much to do, keep his concentration and pull off what was one of the saves of the game.

The Clarets with the link up play between Dan Malcomson, Sam Bell really started to make in roads through the midfield, on 21 minutes the Clarets were awarded a throw in, it was taken quickly and James with his pace passed the Feeder left back and headed towards goal, upon reaching the box James crossed the ball for Dan to score the Clarets second goal, Clarets 2-0 up.

Feeder continued to put pressure on the Clarets game but the all credit to the defence, Callum, Ewan, and Isaac, they held strong.
As the end of the first half was looming the Clarets continued relentlessly to find the third goal and it was on 29 minutes when Owen received the ball, seeing James making a run to his right he played the ball in front of James who hit a powerful shot towards the Feeder goal, on this occasion the Feeder goal keeper could do nothing to keep the ball from hitting the back of the net. Clarets 3-0 up.

The half time whistle blows, Clarets end the first half 3-0 up.

In the second half the Clarets make some changes, bringing on Matt Holland into the Right Back slot and Joe Goldsmith coming on as Left Back, Ewan moving to Left Wing and moving Dan Malcolmson up front with Sam Bell bolstering the Centre Midfield.
The change had an almost instantaneous effect, on 37 minutes, the Clarets pushing the ball forward as Joe moved the ball forward towards Ewan who accelerated passed Feeder Soccer’s right back and cutting in to find George. George unleashed a right footed shot that the Feeder Goal Keeper tipped onto the bar, as it rebounded Dan was there to ensure the Clarets lead was further extended by scoring his second goal of the game. Clarets 4-0 up.

The Clarets never let off the pedal during this game and it was all credit to the Feeder Keeper that the Clarets didn’t hit double figures in this game. The Clarets defence remained solid and on occasions initiating the attacks on the Feeder goal. Matt Holland began many attacks from the Right Back position, placing the ball in the gaps that were forming in the Feeder formation, allowing our offensive players to launch yet another attack.

It was on 61 minutes that Matt Holland found Sam Bell in the middle of the park, the ball passed forward to Dan who in turn saw James to his right and passed the ball in the line of his run, James unleashed a shot which secured his second goal of the game and the Clarets 5th. Clarets 5-0 up.

There was on 64mins a rare lack of concentration and indecision between the Claret defence and their Goal Keeper. This allowed Laurynas Sasnauskas to nip in and score a consolation goal for Feeder Soccer.

The end of the game saw the Clarets victors, securing 3 points with a home win, final score 5-1.

Point of Note: A great victory to what was a poignant game. The Clarets dedicate this victory to Zack Knight. Keep It Claret Zack. A big thank you to Feeder Soccer U13s who shared in the Club's loss and paid their respect to Zack.
