Rangers first home game of the new season saw them in a below par ....

performance as the Foxes won the points with the only goal.

The visitors started brightly, Stephen Hart freed the lively Rakeem Reid, his cross from the goal line just evading Jack Jepson at the far post, Reid progressed to the goal line, his ball fizzed through the home goal area without a touch being applied.

Deeping’s Scott Mooney swiftly closed down visiting keeper Taylor McMillan, his attempted clearance hitting the striker with the ball looping up for the keeper to reclaim, Dan Flack won well, he exchanged passes with Charlie Coulson before laying off for Jordan Macleod, a touch allowed a shot just high of the goal.

Good work by Mooney and Dan Jarvis allowed Macleod to pounce in the box to bring a good save from McMillan

A long throw from Quorn’s Leavi Oshungbure caused a scramble in the home box the ball falling to Hart, his shot well defended by Flack and Luke Hunnings.

Macleod won well on the goal line, he supplied to far post for Jezz Adams to lay into the path of Coulson, the drive hitting a defender and skewed over, the Coulson corner had McMillan scrambling under the bar to push over.

The half finished with another Clarets chance, Flack’s long ball was redirected by Jarvis’ header for Macleod to fire at goal, the ball being high over.

The decisive moment came on 57 mins, Nathan Dale’s corner saw the unmarked Kieran Fenton rise to head home with a powerful header for 0-1.

Rangers best chance for an equaliser came as Macleod won on the touchline, he thrust forward into the box, he drew the keeper before squaring for Adams, a slip as he went to apply the finish allowed the recovering McMillan to make the save and the chance had gone.

The visitors Hart intercepted a clearance from Lewis Elsom, he laid for Dale whose shot was off target as Luke Andersen challenged, Jepson pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the box, his half volley clipping Coulson and fell for Elsom to claim.

Another Jepson shot had Elsom saving well with his legs, Reid’s dribble and shot had Elsom in action again, the parry falling for Jepson, his shot well blocked by Flack.

Rangers finished on the offensive, a deep kick from Elsom was header across goal by Aaron Davies, Mooney collected and turned to strike the post with his shot, Mooney fed Jarvis, his shot was was blocked with the ball falling for Michael Simpson to hit first time, the effort being well off target.
