This was Rangers first visit to the Swifts Kong Park and saw them record an away victory on the opening day of the season but they had to rely on ...

a late goal to overcome their hosts.

Early play saw the visitors on the offensive, Scott Mooney has a shot on the turn fizz by the post from the edge of the box.

Deeping made the breakthrough on 10 mins, Dan Jarvis collected 20 yards to blast at goal, home keeper Warren Butlin could only parry into the path of Jordan Macleod who applied a finish from close range. 0-1

This spurred the home side, Zakari Adams got to a loose ball to advance, Deeping keeper Lewis Elsom advanced allowing Adams an acute angle slide for goal, the ball missing into the side net, Adams hit a swerver from 30 yards bringing a fine save from Elsom.

Rangers’ Jarvis did well to progress into the home box before seeing his fine strike bring a good save from Butlin.

The Swifts were wanting a penalty, a long clearance saw Louis Samuels in the box, Elsom’s challenge deemed not enough for the indifferent referee, the home side drew level on 31 mins when Marshal Keenan looped his header back across goal inside the far post. 1-1

Jarvis had another shot well saved by Butlin after Mooney laid off deftly and the home side had a good chance when an Adams blast was pushed out by Elsom, the ball falling for Lee Tyers but the effort blazed over.

Half Time – Lutterworth Town 1 Deeping Rangers 1

A swift start to the second period saw Jordan Small collect a long clearance, he evaded the challenge from Luke Andersen to advance to the edge of the box, his drive beating Elsom’s attempted save on 47 mins. 2-1

Both sides had chances as the game progressed, Jake Sansby’s pass over the Town defence saw Jarvis win the ball against Shaquille O'Neil-Brooks to see his lobbed effort just too high, Swfts Mark Warren was off target with his header and Keenan saw his shot from the corner of the box crash the post and cleared by Andersen.

Deeping sub Michael Simpson met Flack’s free kick, the header glanced wide of the far post, a home side break had Tyers into the box where resolute defending saw a couple of efforts well blocked and eventually cleared.

The visitors levelled on 65 mins, Mooney chased a long clearance, his cross to the far post , Macleod collected, a cut inside Callum Riley to blast past Butlin on the near post for 2-2.

Swifts saw good chances for subs Will Clarke and Max Johnson but they could not find the back of the net and were punished in additional time when Flack’s free kick into the home box saw a scramble with the ball looping off Simpson’s knee into net on 90+1 for a 2-3 result.

New boys Lutterworth will be hard to beat this season, particularly at home, and Rangers left Kong Park with a flattering result to start the new season with a good 3 points.
