Blue under 8's finish a very productive season and get ready for the step up to 7 a side

Deeping Rangers Blue U8's have finished their first full season in the Peterborough and District Junior Alliance with a very productive end to the season in their football development.

The team are starting to move forward in the right direction as massive improvements starting to show in the last half of the season.

Hardwork and lots of practice in their spare time has brought the team and individual development further than predicted.

Manager Steve Eason explained, " The team has been together over two years now with 3 or 4 additional players added to the squad.

Their development is based on the FA four corner model and the improvements over the whole team has been very impressive over the course of the whole season.

At first we struggled to get to grips with 5 a side matches but bringing in zonal football training they managed to work out that use of space and working together as a team brought reward with their hard work.

What is pleasing is how well they all get along and how they really work well together. But they are still very young and will over the years evolve into a very good and efficient side.

What we are trying to achieve is that the team can play with freedom without adult influences so they make their own decisions and learn from their own mistakes.

The future looks very bright and we would love to follow in Deeping Rangers tradition. There are big footsteps to follow at this club and I'm very proud of what these youngsters have done this season and looking forward to leading this team into the future".

The under 8's will be moving up to the 9's section and 7 a side football. Over the summer there will be more friendlies arranged than doing tournaments which the summer training will end at The Cambridge Football Festival at Cherry Hinton in the end of August.

Finally the team will be getting a new kit and rainjackets, news to be confirmed on a later date.
