Can The Clarets Keep The Run Going?

The hardy souls who braved the biting cold to watch last Saturday's 3-0 victory over an in-form Kirby Muxloe, will probably agree that it really was a game of two halves!

Rangers were fortunate go in to the half time break still on level terms. Only the crossbar and some fine saves from Richard Stainsby kept us in the game.

The second period however, was a completely different affair with goals from Jason Kilbride, Scott Coupland and Henry Dunn reflecting our superiority in the second half.

Understandably, Rangers boss, Michael Goode, preferred to concentrate on the second 45 minutes when assessing his teams chances against Rothwell Corinthians this Saturday, "I was really pleased with the second half performance last week and I want us to maintain that this Saturday. Obviously, we'll be looking for a bit of revenge following our loss at Rothwell back in November.".

The First Team enjoyed a change from the norm this week, as Goodey explains, "We trained on Posh's 3G pitch at The Mick George Academy on Tuesday evening which we really enjoyed. The lads made the most of the opportunity and trained really well. Hopefully, they'll carry their enjoyment onto the pitch on Saturday.".

Competition for starting places hots up this week with the return of Dan Schiavi and Dan Flack from trips to America and Paris respectively. Additionally, Jonny Clay is back training and hopes to be fit for squad selection next weekend's trip to Leicester Nirvana.

Last season, due to a quirk in the fixtures, we played our UCL games against Rothwell on consecutive Saturdays, winning 6-0 at home and 4-0 the following weekend in Northamptonshire with Scott Coupland scoring a brace in each game. While we'd love to see more of the same this Saturday, but I'm sure Goodey and his coaching team will take 3 points however they come.

As always, kick off is 3.00pm, the tea bar is open for hot food and drinks while the Sports & Social Club will provide the stronger drinks before and after the game!

Get on down and support The Clarets!!!!
