Lacklustre, but Winners - just!

Deeping Blues 2 - 1 Glinton Utd

Deeping never got out of 2nd gear in this game and nearly let an understrength Glinton side walk away with 3 points.  Manager Stuart Benson classed it as his sides poorest footballing display of the season as they were 2nd to every ball and stood off their opponents. Only Harry Tidswell of the outfield players showed any urgency when closing players and supporting his forward. Dan Malcolmson, who was covering the absent Will Rodriguez in goal, also played well in the first half although he did need the help of a post on one occasion.

Charlie Stewart was isolated up front for long periods as Deeping got deeper and deeper in their own half and struggled to put passes together.  The introduction of Ryan Olbromski and Sam Callcut livened things up slightly but Deeping still struggled and were lucky to take the lead when Charlie Titcombes corner was deflected into his own net by a Glinton defender.

Glinton fought back though and scored an equaliser when their forward strolled past a couple of weeks tackles to finish well against Deepings 2nd half keeper Oscar Benson.  This seemed to spring Deeping into life and they finally started to string some passes together, Charlie Stewart back on up front showed good close control in setting up chances for Harry and Connor Bell who's piledriver was fabulously tipped over by Glinton's keeper.

Dan, Connor and Charlie Stewart all combined well and with just a few minutes remaining Harry converted from close range to put Deeping ahead 2-1.  Oscar still had to pull off a good save with his legs as Glinton went cose in the final action of the game.  Ethan Russell marked his striker well 2nd half and Toby Clegg cleared his lines well during the first half and helped keep Glinton scoreless in the first half.

Stalemate in Top of Table Clash

Northern Star Black 2 - 2 Deeping Blues

Management Team Stuart Benson and Ray Olbromski were impressed with their teams workrate and performance against top of the table Peterborough Northern Star Black, who had won every game this season in league and cup.  The only disappointment was that Deeping conceded another late equaliser that meant they had to settle for a point.

Deeping started strongly and had the better of the early exchanges with Connor Bell and Harry Tidswell a constant threat. It was after good work from Connor on the right that Dan Malcolmson struck the opening goal from the edge of the box.  Ryan Olbromski was having a strong game in central midfield until he pciked up an injury, although Oscar Benson stepped into his shoes well.  PNS didn't create many clear cut chances, but did cause some concern in Deepings defence and Ethan Russell and Charlie Titcombe had to scramble the ball clear on a number of occasions.

PNS did force an equaliser just before the break when a long throw fell for them and they beat Will Rodriguez from close range, although there was more than a hint of handball when he controlled it.  Deeping bounced straight back with a dubios penalty that a returning Ryan Olbromski dispatched with aplomb!

The Blues were under pressure for large spells of the second half and PNS got a deserved equaliser with a few minutes remaining with a long free kick that flew past Will in goal. Strong Defending from Toby Clegg and particularly Charlie Titcombe made sure the Blues didn't look like conceding as Sam Callcut worked hard up front for the closing 10 mins.

Blues blow Hot & Cold

Written by Stuart Benson.

Werrington 1 - 1 Deeping Blues

Werrington started this game like a house on fire with only Will Rodriguez between them and an early lead.  He made 4 great saves to keep Deepings goal in tact.

Deeping slowly got into the game but were still slow to react to loose balls and and could have been winning if they'd reacted quicker to balls coming off the keeper as Harry Tidswell, Connor Bell and Dan Malcolmson fired in long shots.

Deeping started the second half stronger and had chances in the shape of Sam Callcut, Charlie Stewart and Dan , but couldn't find a goal.  Charlie Titcombe then lined up a free kick from near to the half way line after a foul by Werrington. His cross headed straight for goal and went through a crowd of players and beat the keeper.

Werrington then took the game to the Blues and dominated the last 10 mins, winning a successsion of corners and having several shots blocked by last ditch tackles from Ethan Russell and Oscar Benson. Werrington finally equalised when their striker headed in a corner after some hesitant defending by Deepings back line.

Manager Stuart Benson was pleased with the point, but disappointed not to hold on in the last few minutes.

Scorer = Titcombe

Blues back to Winning Ways!

Written by Stuart Benson.

Deeping shrugged off the recent cup defeat with a comfortable win against bottom club Blackstones.  It wasn't plain sailing though, Blackstones started the game well and had the Blues on the back foot in the first half as Deeping struggled to get their passing game going.

Deeping did take the lead when ex Stones player Sam Callcut finished well after good work from Harry Tidswell.  Blackstones came back well and made it 1-1 just before half time.  Will Rodriguez had to be at his best in goal and Toby Clegg in defence to stop the underdogs from taking the lead.

The introduction of Charlie Titcombe to the centre of midfield and Charlie Stewart up front gave Deeping control in the second half and they looked a different side with Oscar Benson and Ethan Russell keeping things tight at the back. Charlie Stewart scored two quick goals after good passing moves and then linked well with Connor Bell for him to get two late goals and put the game beyond Blackstones.

Ryan Olbromski and Dam Malcolmson also put in good strong performances in midfiled to ensure the Blues went home happy and made it 3 wims out of 3 in the League.

Mom = Charlie Stewart

Goals = Charlie Stewart (2), Sam Callcut, Connor Bell (2)
